Vera Jones - President

My roots in White Pine County go back many years.  My ancestors were called to settle Lund.  My dad was born and raised there but eventually moved south and married.  I grew up in Southern Nevada and never dreamed I would be living in Ely.  I have come to love the area and mostly the people.  I have 7 children with 2 of them still living at home.  I also have a son serving a mission in Dallas, Texas.  My husband Ken and I have had many wonderful experiences raising our children and serving the Lord here in Ely.  I enjoy cooking, singing, crafting, and most of all my children and grandchildren.
Relief Society has always been an important part of my life.  I have been privileged to serve in many Relief Society callings.  I feel that Relief Society has helped me to be a better wife and mother and most of all encourages me to build a stronger relationship with my Heavenly Father.  I am grateful for this opportunity to serve in a stake capacity and get to know more of the sisters.  Please know you are loved and that Heavenly Father knows your needs.

Alice Nicholes - 1st Counselor

Alice Kae Nicholes is the oldest of five children of Frank & Kae Warren.  She has been married to her best friend, Stanley D. Nicholes, for 35 years who was her high school sweetheart.   They have four living children and two heavenly children waiting for them to be an eternal family. She is a grandmother of eight grandchildren- five princes and three princesses.  She has had a wonderful opportunity to have the gospel in my life full time.  She has the opportunity daily to be a facilitator of learning for some very special students at White Pine Middle School.  She is looking forward to fulfilling, learning and gaining a testimony of Relief Society.

Cherie Reid - 2nd Counselor

My name is Cherie Reid and I live in Lund, NV.  I am married to Max Reid, and I have 2 children.  My son, Robby Reid, is 21 and just returned from serving a mission in Albuquerque, NM.  My daughter, Kelsea Reid,is 14 and starts high school next year.   I also have taught school for the past 9 years.  In my sparetime I love to hang out with my family and I also like to take my dog for walks up in the hills.  I am excited about working in the Stake Relief Society, and  I am really looking forward to getting to know more people in our stake!

Daisy Howes - Secretary

I’m Daisy Howes and have claimed Ruth as my home for 63 years.  Here I met and married Nolan Howes, my husband of 58 years.  We are the parents of nine children, scattered around the West.  We are blessed with 24 grandchildren (and 1 in progress), who in turn have blessed us with 15 (almost 16) great grandchildren.  Family is the joy of our life and we love having them visit.  They also keep us traveling to one event or another.  I’m grateful for gospel covenants that unite us as an eternal family.  Relief Society has been a great blessing in my life.  I have been privileged to serve there throughout my life.  I’ll be forever grateful to sisters who taught and shared their homemaking skills so I could better provide and care for my family.  Relief Society lessons have always and continue to strengthen my testimony of the Gospel.  I’m blessed to serve now with faithful sisters.
